On this page you will find the most important things that the Command Team looks for in an application. I highly recommend that everyone who is planning on joining the USS Victorious read through this information, as there are several things that make a good application.
The Basics
Filling in all the boxes is one of the most basic things your can do to make your application noteworthy. Some things like your character's middle name can be left blank, as not everyone has them, but everything else about your character should be filled in. While IM programs are not required they do come in handy. Out of character interaction plays an important role aboard the Victorious.
The next step is to pause a moment to seriously consider what you are going to put in application boxes! New applicants won't be accepted if it looks like they've rushed through the application or just thrown a sentence or two in each box. Additionally applications submitted without a sample post will also be rejected. Be creative!
History and Personality
These two sections are big determining factors when it comes to the overall application, so take your time and make them good. Short answers or unbelievable backgrounds are not accepted. Note these give key information on who your character is and where they come from.
As an absolute minimum is a two paragraph personality (approx 50 words ) and a three paragraph history is required
If you can't do more than this please reconsider applying as this is a text based Simm. Post quality is important.
For anyone considering a Department Head position the personality section should be three good paragraphs (approx 75 words) while the history section should be five good paragraphs (approx 300 words).
Senior Officers, Senior Enlisted and Warrant Officers the Command Staff would like to see the same numbers as the Department Head applications.
Those applying for junior officers are encouraged to apply with more than the minimum. You will find later that this only helps.
Diversity
While diversity isn't a must it can be a bonus for the command staff. Try playing a character that is female, or an alien race. Note all applications for these types of characters must be believable.
Player Experience
At the end of your sample post please put a note with your previous sim experience. However don't rely on this to help you out. It only makes a difference in where you start on the sim.
I've applied, now what?
The Victorious Command Staff (ie CO, XO or Second Officer) aims to reply to applications with a yes or a no within 48 hours of the application being received. If for some reason you application can't be processed in this time you will be informed of the reason. Usually this happens due to needing further information or a Command Staff member going on LOA. If a member is on LOA the application will be passed on to those available to respond.

Congratulations and welcome to the USS Victorious! Please read your acceptance email carefully, it contains all of the details you need to know to get started on the sim and it will tell you about status of the current mission, so you can jump in without disturbing the storyline. Just remember to role play the character you applied with. Don't come up with a different personality. If you have questions please contact a member of the Command Staff.
Members are expected to follow the rules and regulations of both the sim and fleet at all times, both in character and out of character. By continuing, you affirm that you will sim in a proper and adequate manner. Members who choose to make ultra short posts, post very infrequently, or post posts with explicit content (above PG-13) will be removed immediately, and by continuing, you agree to this. In addition, in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA), we do not accept players under the age of 13. Any players found to be under the age of 13 will be immediately removed without question. By agreeing to these terms, you are also saying that you are above the age of 13.
